The LIV Golf League returns to Australia to contest the third edition of the LIV Golf Invitational Series in Adelaide this weekend. Who will lift the winning trophy this Sunday?

Brendan Steele is back to defend his title after a one-stroke victory over Louis Oosthuizen in 2024.

Current top-ten in the individual points standings after one round:

1. Adrian Meronk 40 pts
2. Jon Rahm 27 pts
3. Sebastian Munoz 27 pts
4. Lucas Herbert 17 pts
5. Dean Burmester 17 pts
6. David Puig 12 pts
7. Marc Leishman 12 pts
8. Tyrrell Hatton 12 pts
9. Sergio Garcia 12 pts
10. Bryson Dechambeau 8 pts

These are our four selections that could win the title this weekend.

Bryson DeChambeau

Bryson DeChambeau has had an excellent start to 2025, placing 2nd at the International Series in India and T6 at the LIV Golf Tour season opener in Riyadh.

Other noteworthy results achieved by DeChambeau in the LIV Golf League last season include a T9 in Las Vegas, a 4th in Jeddah, a T6 in Hong Kong, a T7 in Miami, a T3 in Nashville, a 9th in Andalucia, and a T11 in the United Kingdom.

Additionally, Dechambeau placed T6 at the Masters, 2nd at the PGA Championship and victory at the U.S. Open.

The two-time U.S. Open champion finished T26 in 2023 and 2024 at the LIV Golf Invitational Series in Adelaide.

DeChambeau has started his year well and can win the title in Australia this weekend.

Sergio Garcia

Sergio Garcia got his new season on the LIV Golf Tour off to an excellent start, placing T6 in Riyadh last weekend.

Before that, Garcia was in fine form towards the end of last season, with a victory in Andalucia and finishing T20 in the United Kingdom, T8 in Greenbrier, and T2 in Chicago.

Garcia's other achievements in the LIV Golf League last season include placing 2nd in Mayakoba, T15 in Jeddah, 2nd in Miami, T14 in Singapore, and 5th in Houston.

The former Masters champion has made two appearances in Adelaide, finishing T11 in 2023 and T40 in 2024.

Garcia has come good recently and can emerge as the winning player at the Grange Golf Club this weekend.

Lucas Herbert

Lucas Herbert had a slow beginning to his season on the DP World Tour, finishing T43 at the BMW Australian PGA Championship before placing T5 at the ISPS Handa Australian Open and T4 in Riyadh on the LIV Golf Tour last weekend.

Other prominent performances achieved by Herbert in the LIV Golf League last year include finishing T6 in Houston, Greenbrier, and Chicago.

Herbert also competed on the Asian Tour and PGA Tour of Australasia last season, placing T10 at the International Series in Oman, 3rd at the International Series in Oman, and victory at the NSW Open.

The 29-year-old finished T14 overall at the 2024 LIV Golf International Series in Adelaide.

Herbert has found some excellent form lately and should enter calculations in Australia this weekend.

David Puig

David Puig has been playing well on the DP World Tour and LIV Golf Tour lately, placing 3rd at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship, T4 at the Bahrain Championship, and T6 in Riyadh last weekend.

Other notable results achieved by Puig on the LIV Golf Tour last year include placing T3 in Houston, T11 in the United Kingdom, and T13 in Greenbrier.

Additionally, Puig placed T10 at the International Series in Oman, 2nd at the International Series in Macau, 5th at the Saudi Open, T3 at the Open de Espana, T4 at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, T12 at the Andalucia Masters, T19 at the International Series in Qatar on the Asian Tour and DP World Tour last season.

The 23-year-old Spaniard finished T32 in 2023 and T40 in 2024 at the LIV Golf Tour event in Adelaide.

Puig has been in great shape lately and can pocket the winner's cheque at the Grange Golf Club come Sunday.

Format

An invitational field of 54 golfers will feature at the tournament, with a total purse of $25 million up for grabs. $4 million will go to the winner, while the player coming in last will pocket $50,000.

The players will contest 54 holes instead of 72 for all the LIV Golf Invitational Series events.

A shotgun start will occur, where the players will tee off simultaneously from different holes.

A 13-four-man team (four players each and two wild-card players) format will run concurrent, with the top three teams earning prize money.

Verdict

DeChambeau has every chance of victory in Australia after his recent results.

Puig has been knocking hard and has the form to win in Adelaide this weekend.

Garcia has been in solid form and can win his second LIV Golf Tour title this Sunday.

Herbert has been thereabouts and will fancy his chances to win in his homeland this weekend.
