- 10. Talor Gooch 50.80 pts
These are our four selections that could win the title this weekend.
Cameron Smith
Cameron Smith contested two DP World Tour events at the start of his season with results of MC at the Fortinet Australian PGA Championship and T17 at the ISPS Handa Australian Open before returning to compete on the LIV Golf Tour.
Smith achieved solid results during his opening three tournaments, finishing T8 in Mayakoba, T15 in Las Vegas, and T41 in Jeddah before finding another gear, placing T2 in Hong Kong, W/D in Miami and T6 at the Masters.
The former Open Champion placed T3 overall at the 2023 LIV Golf Series in Adelaide.
Smith has been in great touch lately and will have his home fans behind him to secure the title at the Grange Golf Club this weekend.
Bryson DeChambeau
Bryson DeChambeau had a mediocre start to his new season on the LIV Golf Tour, finishing T25 in Mayakoba before he bounced back to his best on the golf course.
After that performance, DeChambeau reeled off five consecutive top-ten results, placing T9 in Las Vegas, 4th in Jeddah, T6 in Hong Kong, T7 in Miami and T6 at the Masters.
The 30-year-old American finished T26 at the LIV Golf League event in Adelaide in 2023.
DeChambeau has featured consistently high on leaderboards in 2024 and can win the title in Australia this weekend.
Patrick Reed
Patrick Reed had an indifferent start to the new season in the LIV Golf League, finishing T17 in Mayakoba, T39 in Las Vegas, T37 in Jeddah, and T29 in Hong Kong before rediscovering his touch.
Reed's subsequent three events have been excellent, placing 4th at the International Series in Macau (Asian Tour), T9 in Miami and T12 at the Masters.
The American golfer achieved a T3 result at the 2023 LIV Golf tournament in Adelaide.
Reed has found some form and will look to add another trophy to his cabinet in South Australia this weekend.
Paul Casey
Paul Casey struggled with his game last season on the LIV Golf Tour but has come good lately, achieving top results.
Casey has placed T11 in Mayakoba, T5 in Las Vegas, T29 in Jeddah, T2 in Hong Kong, 6th at the Porsche Singapore Classic (DP World Tour), and T14 in Miami in six starts.
The Englishman did not produce any fireworks at this tournament last year, finishing 39th overall.
Casey has found consistency this season and offers excellent value in Australia this weekend.
Format
An invitational field of 54 golfers will feature at the tournament, with a total purse of $25 million up for grabs. $4 million will go to the winner, while the player coming in last will pocket $50,000.
The players will contest 54 holes instead of 72 for all the LIV Golf Invitational Series events.
A shotgun start will occur, where the players will tee off simultaneously from different holes.
A 13-four-man team (four players each and two wild-card players) format will run concurrent, with the top three teams earning prize money.
Verdict
DeChambeau has been in tremendous form and has claims for the title in South Australia.
Reed appears to have turned the corner and can win the tournament at the Grange Golf Club this weekend.
Casey has been holding form and could surprise the others with the victory in Adelaide.
