The DP World Tour returns to Denmark with a competitive field contesting the Danish Golf Championship at the Lubker Golf Resort for the first time this weekend. Which golfer will walk away with honours come Sunday?

Rasmus Hojgaard is back to defend his title after a playoff victory over Nacho Elvira in 2022.

The Lubker Golf Resort hosted the DP World Tour Qualifying School, the Challenge Tour, and the ECCO Tour in the past.

These are our selections that could win the title this weekend.

Rasmus Hojgaard

Rasmus Hojgaard was in fine form at the start of his season, placing T11 at the Dubai Invitational, T11 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, 2nd at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship, T8 at the Bahrain Championship and T6 at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.

Hojgaard struggled with his consistency on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour after those performances, with results of MC at the Cognizant Classic, T49 at the Puerto Rico Open, T29 at the Porsche Singapore Classic, W/D from the Hero Indian Open, MC at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, T68 at the PGA Championship and MC at the European Open.

However, Hojgaard has improved his game in his subsequent four starts, placing T20 at the Volvo Scandinavian Mixed, T4 at the KLM Dutch Open, T21 at the Genesis Scottish Open and T60 at the Open Championship.

The 23-year-old Dane has made three appearances at the Danish Golf Championship, with results of MC in 2021, T22 in 2022 and victory in 2023.

Hojgaard appears to have turned the corner and can clinch his second consecutive Danish Golf Championship this weekend.

Tom McKibbin

Tom McKibbin played excellent golf on the DP World Tour between February and June, placing 4th at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters, T12 at the SDC Championship, T9 at the Jonsson Workwear Open, MC at the Porsche Singapore Open and T7 at the ISPS Handa Championship.

He was then T23 at the Volvo China Open, T8 at the European Open, T41 at the U.S. Open, 6th at the KLM Dutch Open and 2nd at the Italian Open.

However, McKibbin's form dipped after those performances, with results of MC Scottish Open, T66 at the Open Championship and MC at the D+D Real Czech Masters.

Other noteworthy results achieved by McKibbin this season include finishing T14 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic and T16 at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship.

The 21-year-old golfer will debut at the 2024 Danish Golf Championship this weekend.

McKibbin has not been at his best lately but he is overdue a big performance at the Lubker Golf Resort if he can replicate the form he showed earlier in the year.

Bernd Wiesberger

Bernd Wiesberger had a solid start to his season on the DP World Tour, placing T21 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, T37 at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship, T16 at the Bahrain Championship and T16 at the Porsche Singapore Classic before missing the cut at the Hero Indian Open.

Wiesberger did not take long to find his rhythm again after that disappointing result, finishing T24 at the ISPS Handa Championship in Japan, T23 at the Volvo China Open, T24 at the Soudal Open, T2 at the European Open and T7 at the KLM Duch Open.

Wiesberger lacked consistency in his subsequent three events, with results of T42 at the Italian Open, 16th at the BMW International Open, and MC at the Genesis Scottish Open before placing T6 at the D+D Real Czech Masters last weekend.

The eight-time DP World Tour winner has an impeccable record at the Danish Golf Championship, winning the title in 2019 and 2021.

Wiesberger has played well this season and has the game to secure his third consecutive victory in Denmark this weekend.

Thomas Aiken

Thomas Aiken was in decent nick at the beginning of the  DP World Tour season, placing T17 at the Joburg Open, MC at the Investec South African Open Championship, T39 at the Alfred Dunhill Champion and T7 at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.

Aiken competed on the Challenge Tour in his subsequent three events, with results of MC at the SDC Open, 12th at the Bain's Whiskey Cape Town Open and T40 at the Dimension Data Pro-Am.

Aiken has shown consistent form on the golf course since his return to the DP World Tour, placing T23 at the Magical Kenya Open, T16 at the SDC Championship, T17 at the Jonsson Workwear Open, T24 at the Tour Championship (Sunshine Tour) and T7 at the KLM Dutch Open.

He then finished T55 at the Italian Open, T17 at the BMW International, MC at the ISCO Championship (PGA Tour) and T12 at the recent D+D Real Czech Masters.

The South African golfer has featured four times at the Danish Golf Championship, finishing T13 in 2016, T71 in 2018, T52 in 2022, and T49 in 2023.

Aiken has yet to make inroads at this tournament but he is in better form this season and can produce an excellent result in Denmark.

Verdict

Rasmus Hojgaard will look to win the Danish Golf Championship back-to-back this weekend.

McKibbin has done nothing wrong this season and will fancy his chances to lift the trophy in Denmark come Sunday.

Wiesberger has threatened to win another DP World Tour title this year and can make the frame this weekend.

Aiken offers an excellent each-way bet at the Lubker Golf Resort this weekend, as he has been playing consistently well.
