The 70th edition of the BMW PGA Championship has attracted a star-studded field of the world's best golfers for the latest round of the DP World Tour. Who will walk away with the honours at Wentworth this weekend?

Ryan Fox returns to defend his title after a one-stroke victory over Tyrrell Hatton and Aaron Rai in 2023.

The BMW PGA Championship is the third of five Rolex Series events on the DP World Tour for 2024.

The players will compete on the West Course at the Wentworth Golf Club.

Past major winners who will tee off on Thursday include Rory McIlroy, Matt Fitzpatrick, Shane Lowry, Adam Scott, Francesco Molinari, Justin Rose, Padraig Harrington and Danny Willett.

These are our four selections that could win the title this weekend.

Rory Mcllroy

Rory McIlroy has been in excellent touch on the PGA Tour since during the latter half of the year, placing T4 at the RBC Canadian Open, T15 at the Memorial Tournament, 2nd at the U.S. Open, T4 at the Genesis Scottish Open, MC at the Open Championship and T5 at the Paris Olympics.

He was then T68 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, T4 at the BMW Championship, T9 at the Tour Championship and 2nd at the Amgen Irish Open last weekend.

Other noteworthy results achieved by McIlroy this season include finishing T2 at the Dubai Invitational, victory at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, T24 at the Genesis Invitational, T21 at the Cognizant Classic, T21 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, T19 at the Players Championship and 3rd at the Valero Texas Open.

He has also been T22 at the Masters, won at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans and at the Wells Fargo Championship, and was T12 at the PGA Championship,

The four-time major winner has achieved excellent results in his previous six appearances at the Wentworth Golf Club, including victory in 2014, MC in 2015, 2nd in 2018, T9 in 2019, T2 in 2022 and T7 in 2023.

McIlroy will be out to make amends for coming up short in Northern Ireland last weekend with his second title at the BMW PGA Championships this weekend.

Adam Scott

Adam Scott has been in superb form since mid-July, placing 2nd at the Genesis Scottish Open, T10 at the Open Championship, T18 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, T2 at the BMW Championship and T4 at the Tour Championship.

Other notable performances achieved by Scott on the DP World Tour and PGA Tour this season include finishing 6th at the Fortinet Australian PGA Championship, T4 at the ISPS Handa Australian Open, T7 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic and T20 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Scott was also T8 at the WM Phoenix Open, T19 at the Genesis Invitational, T14 at the Valero Texas Open, T22 at the Masters and T12 at the Charles Schwab Challenge.

The Australian golfer has featured four times at the BMW PGA Championship, placing T11 in 2004, T14 in 2021, T42 in 2022 and T7 in 2023.

Scott has been knocking hard lately and will fancy his chances to get over the finish line at the Wentworth Golf Club this weekend.

Shane Lowry

Shane Lowry has been thereabouts on the PGA Tour since mid-June, placing T19 at the U.S. Open, T9 at the Travelers Championship, 6th at the Open Championship, T26 at the Paris Olympics, MC at the Wyndham Championship, T50 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, T13 at the BMW Championship, T9 at the Tour Championship and T12 at the Amgen Irish Open last weekend.

Other prominent results achieved by Lowry during 2024 include finishing T25 at the Farmers Insurance Open, T4 at the Cognizant Classic, 3rd at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, T19 at the Players Championship, victory at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans and T6 at the PGA Championship,

Lowry plays consistently well at the Wentworth Golf Club and can emerge as the winner this weekend.

Alex Noren

After some poor results on the PGA Tour in June, Alex Noren has regained his touch from earlier in the year, placing T10 at the Genesis Scottish Open, T13 at the Open Championship, T45 at the Paris Olympics, T30 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship and T9 at the BMW Championship.

Before that, Noren achieved consistent results during the season, with his best being a T25 at the American Express, a T9 at the Cognizant Classic, a T19 at the Players Championship, a T11 at the Texas Children's Houston Open, a T14 at the Valero Texas Open, a 3rd at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, a T24 at the Wells Fargo Championship and a T12 at the PGA Championship.

The Swede has a long history at the BMW PGA Championship, placing T21 in 2009, T74 in 2010, MC in 2011, T21 in 2012, T32 in 2013, W/D in 2014, T8 in 2015, T43 in 2016, victory in 2017, T3 in 2018, T28 in 2019 and T27 in 2021.

Noren has been thereabouts and could surprise the others by pocketing the winner's cheque in England come Sunday.
