Australian PGA Championship Predictions - Best bets for victory in Queensland

The DP World Tour and players return to Brisbane to compete in the 88th edition of the Australian PGA Championship. Who will emerge as the winner in Queensland this weekend?

Cameron Smith
Cameron Smith has been knocking hard lately on the LIV Golf Tour and the PGA Tour of Australasia, placing T9 in Nashville, T6 in Andalucia, MC at the Open Championship, T2 in the United Kingdom, T8 in Greenbrier, 52nd in Chicago, T3 at the Queensland PGA Championship and T2 at the NSW Open.
Other notable results achieved by Smith this season include finishing T17 at the ISPS Handa Australian Open, T8 in Mayakoba, T15 in Las Vegas, T2 in Hong Kong, T6 at the Masters, T14 in Adelaide, T2 in Singapore, T9 in Nashville and T6 in Andalucia.
The former Open Champion has compiled an impressive record at this event, with results T35 in 2013, T9 in 2014, T15 in 2016, victory in 2017, victory in 2018, T10 in 2019, victory in 2022 and MC in 2023.
Smith will fancy his chances to win the Australian PGA Championship after producing three top-three places in his last six starts.
Jason Day
Jason Day has been in decent nick on the PGA Tour recently, finishing T23 at the John Deere Classic, T13 at the Open Championship, T9 at the Paris Olympics, T22 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship and T33 at the BMW Championship.
Additional highlights achieved by Day this season include placing T10 at the Sentry, T6 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, 9th at the Genesis Invitational, T18 at the RBC Heritage and T4 at the Wells Fargo Championship.
The former world number one has made just one appearance at the Australian PGA Championship, finishing T9 overall in 2011.
Day has found some form and can come out top in Queensland this weekend.
Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen
Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen has been in solid form lately, placing T19 at the Danish Golf Championship, MC at the Amgen Irish Open, T13 at the Open de Espana, T4 at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, T18 at the Open de France, T50 at the Andalucia Masters, T14 at the Genesis Championship and 2nd at the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final.
Neergaard-Petersen has had an impressive season on the Challenge Tour during 2024, finishing T6 at the Bain's Whisky Cape Town Open, victory at the Kolkata Challenge, T7 at the Abu Dhabi Challenge, victory at the UAE Challenge and T2 at the Challenge de Espana.
The Dane was then T6 at the Danish Golf Challenge, T17 at the Challenge de Cadiz, T22 at the Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge, T18 at the Vierumäki Finnish Challenge and victory at the Big Green Egg German Challenge.
The 25-year-old Dane is debuting at the Australian PGA Championship this weekend.
Neergaard-Petersen has been playing excellent golf this year and can lift the winning trophy at the Royal Queensland Golf Club come Sunday.
Adrien Saddier
Adrien Saddier has been thereabouts on the DP World Tour lately, placing T19 at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, T18 at the Open de France, MC at the Andalucia Masters, T44 at the Genesis Championship and T19 at the recent Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.
Other noteworthy performances achieved by Saiddier this season include finishing T23 at the Magical Kenya Open, T13 at the Soudal Open, T13=2 at the Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed, T16 at the ISCO Championship, T3 at the D+D Real Czech Masters and T5 at the Danish Golf Championship.
The 32-year-old Frenchman is debuting at the Australian PGA Championship this weekend.
Saddier has been showing signs he is ready to produce a top result and should enter calculations.
Verdict
Day has been in better shape lately and can secure victory in Queensland come Sunday.
Neergaard-Petersen has been in fine form this season and can make the frame in Brisbane this weekend.
Saddier has not been far off from challenging for his maiden DP World Tour victory.
