South Africa vs Pakistan Test Cricket Head-to-Head & Stats

South Africa had never played an international against Pakistan prior to being reintroduced to world cricket in 1991. After playing against Pakistan in the 1992 World Cup, South Africa played their first Test against Pakistan in the 1994/95 season. They lost that one-off Test by 324 runs as South Africa’s pacemen cut through the Pakistan batting line-up.

South Africa have picked up three wins in a row twice, but their best spell was winning four Tests in a row from October 2013 to January 2019, winning each of those Tests by large margins. 

Pakistan have won just six of their Tests against South Africa, with their best spell being two wins in a row. Those two Tests were the last two played between the sides, when Pakistan won by seven wickets and 95 runs at home.

South Africa’s pace attack and relatively reliable batting line-up have generally had the upper-hand over Pakistan, who themselves have usually had a fearsome bowler or two in their side, but nothing to match the Proteas’ attack. 

Pakistan have usually been blessed with some highly talented batters, but have lacked the depth to provide a strong challenge to the Proteas brilliant bowling line-ups.
