Pakistan vs Bangladesh Preview
Both sides are in poor form in the longest format of the game. However, given their status as hosts and the superior quality and experience, I am backing Pakistan to win with ease.

- Pakistan have won their last 4 Test matches against Bangladesh.
- Pakistan have won 2 of their last 10 Test matches.
- Pakistan have failed to win any of their last 5 home Test matches.
- Pakistan’s Babar Azam averages over 45 in Test cricket.
- Bangladesh have lost their last 2 Test matches.
Head to Head
In four of the last five Test matches between these two sides, Pakistan have won four along with a draw.
Pakistan Form
Pakistan have struggled in Test cricket recently, wining just two of their last 10 matches. More of a concern will be the fact that five of those Test matches were at home and none of them turned into victory.
The last time Pakistan played a Test match was on 3 January this year. They lost the match to Australia in Sydney and the series ended in a 3-0 whitewash.
In the final game, Pakistan suffered a second innings collapse after holding a small first innings lead. They ended up losing by eight wickets. Babar Azam will once again be the glue everyone looks to, but other batsmen will need to stand up in this home series.
Pakistan Injuries & Team News
Expect a few changes to the Pakistan Test side that toured Australia late in 2023 and early 2024.
Bangladesh Form
Bangladesh last played Test cricket in March 2024, a series they lost 2-0 at home to Sri Lanka.
While the Tigers have improved drastically in the long format over the last decade or so, they have recently hit a slump. At home they are normally very dangerous, but even there they struggle.
Against Sri Lanka, in the two Test matches, Bangladesh only managed to score 200+ runs once in four innings. That came in the second innings of the last match where they were already just about out of the game.
Bangladesh Injuries & Team News
Bangladesh may have a few fresh faces on show in this series.
Verdict
I am backing Babar Azam to score 50+ runs in Pakistan's first innings and also top score for the hosts.
