England vs Sri Lanka Preview
While Sri Lanka were very competitive in the first Test, I don't think England will have too many issues putting them away in the second.

Head to Head
The last five Test matches between these nations have gone England's way.
England Form
England have been strong at home since Brendon McCullum took over the team and that record has only improved this season.
In the first Test against Sri Lanka, the hosts didn’t have it their own away as the visitors scored 236 batting first. England struggled in response, but Jamie Smith’s 111 rescued their cause with a total of 358.
With a good lead, England had the game in their hands, however, the Sri Lankans fought hard to score 326, leaving England a tough target of 205 for the win.
At 70-3 Sri Lanka were in the game but Joe Root consolidated the hosts cause with a well-played 62* as England won by five wickets.
England Injuries & Team News
Depending on the pitch, England could make a change or two. The bowlers lacked consistent threat in the first Test which could prompt a change.
Sri Lanka Form
Sri Lanka will be happy with their performance in the first Test after a very strong performance. They scored 236 runs batting first with Dhananjaya de Silva scoring 74 and Milan Rathnayake 72 runs.
The bowling effort started well but the English middle order piled on the runs to secure a healthy first innings lead. However, that was not the end of Sri Lanka with Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal scoring 50+ runs. The hero, however, came in the form of Kamindu Mendis with a superb 113 runs.
The target of 205 runs was never really high enough, but there was enough to give Sri Lanka hope. The visitors bowled superbly, restricting England to 70-3 and then 119-4. They also held the run rate in check, not something many manage against this England side.
In the end, Sri Lanka lost by five wickets, but they will take plenty of confidence from the performance.
Sri Lanka Injuries & Team News
I don’t see Sri Lanka making many changes, but they will hope that the top order can contribute a bit more with runs.
Verdict
Joe Root is backed to score 50+ runs in the first innings and top score for the hosts. For Sri Lanka, Angelo Mathews is backed to top score in the first innings.
