Head to Head
The series is level at 1-1 after two games with two to play. India won the opener, but South Africa bounced back to level matters last time out.
South Africa Form
The Proteas did well in the 2nd T20I to get back on level terms in the series with a three-wicket win. On a tough surface, the hosts bowled well to hold India to 124 runs in 20 overs.
Five of the six bowlers took one wicket each with no one going at more than seven runs to the over. Nqabayomzi Peter was the pick of the bowlers, taking 1-20 in four overs.
South Africa started well enough with the bat, but regular wickets put them on the back foot. However, Tristian Stubbs played a mature innings of 47 off 41 balls, helped by a blistering 19 off 9 balls from Gerald Coetzee towards the end.
South Africa Injuries & Team News
South Africa are well and truly at full strength, at least in the batting department. To date, however, that is what has let them down in this series. Big players such as Aiden Markram, David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen need to show their quality in the next two games.
India Form
India were superb in the first T20, particularly with the bat, but in the second game it was the complete opposite. Faced with a pitch that had some assistance for the bowlers, the Indian side faltered.
Three wickets fell by the time they had reached 15 runs with Sanju Samson, the hero from the opening game, gone for a duck. Hardik Pandya led the recovery to 124 runs with a useful 39 runs at less than a run a ball.
Varun Chakravarthy then stepped up with the ball to give India the edge, taking a superb 5-17 in four overs. However, once his spell was done the others couldn’t maintain that pressure and the South Africans got hope with an over to spare.
India Injuries & Team News
This is a young squad on tour for India so we could see a few changes being made as they look to give players experience.
Verdict
South Africa are backed to win in Pretoria and take the series lead. Tristan Stubbs is tipped to top score for the hosts while we are looking at Sanju Samson to do the same for India.
