Oman vs Papua New Guinea Predictions

Oman have been on a superb run of form and should be too strong for Papua New Guinea. Oman won the recent final of the World Cup Asia qualifier by beating Nepal in the final. They lost in the final of the AC Men’s Premier Cup after winning their five qualifying matches. They also beat Papua New Guinea 2-1 in their home T20I series.

  • Oman’s Aqib Ilyas has scored 62, 34 & 62* in his last 5 innings.
  • Oman’s Naseem Khushi has scored 69 & 39 in his last 5 innings.
  • Papua New Guinea’s Charles Amini scored 91* & 33 in his last 2 innings.
  • Papua New Guinea’s Sese Bau scored 21, 61* & 28 in his last 5 innings.

Head-to-Head

The last time the two teams met was back in March, when Oman won the T20I series 2-1.

Oman Form

Oman won their four group matches and the semi-final of the ACC Men’s Premier Cup in April, before losing to the UAE in the final.

The UAE scored 204/4 off their 20 overs, with Bilal Khan (2/35, econ 8.75) starring with the ball for Oman.

Oman were in trouble at 58/6 before Pratik Athavale did his best to get Oman back in the hunt, scoring 49 off 30 balls, but the asking rate was too much and they ended their 20 overs 55 runs short.

Oman Team News

Oman are in good form and are unlikely to make any changes to their team.

Papua New Guinea Form

Their most recent competitive cricket was in March when they toured Malaysia, drawing the T20I series 1-1.

Malaysia scored 161/4 off their 20 overs, with John Kariko (2/22, econ 5.50) returning the best figures for Papua New Guinea.

Papua New Guinea started well, but when Charles Amini fell for 33 with the score on 72 it signalled a horrific collapse as they lost seven wickets for 26 runs and were bowled out for 98 with three overs to spare.

Papua New Guinea Team News

Papua New Guinea will need their batters to be on top form to present a strong challenge for Oman.

Verdict

I am backing Oman to win. I am also backing Aqib Ilyas to top score for Oman.

Charles Amini is a good bet to top score for Papua New Guinea.

Odds will be updated once released.
