The Proteas have batted brilliantly in the first two WT20Is against India, winning the 1st WT20I and being well-positioned in the 2nd match before rain stopped play. However, India are far superior with bat and ball and are likely to win the last match to level the series.

The Proteas batted superbly again, racking up 177/6 off their 20 overs. India kept the runs down in the first eight overs, but the Proteas let loose in the last six overs to lift the asking rate up to almost nine runs to the over.

Deepti Sharma got the two key wickets of Brits and Kapp and returned the superb figures of 4-0-20-2 (econ 5.00), while Pooja Vastrakar (2/37) knocked over Wolvaardt and Nadine de Klerk to help keep the Proteas score to under 200. Sadly, rained ended play after the Proteas innings.

After a magnificent victory in the 1st WT20I, the Proteas were in a great position to push for a victory in the 2nd WT20I, before rain washed the match out after the Proteas’ innings.

Laura Wolvaardt (22 off 12) and Tazmin Brits (52 of 39 balls) got the innings off to a flyer with 43 runs in the first four overs. Brits and Marizanne Kapp (20 off 14) kept the rate near 10 an over after eight overs.

Anneke Bosch (40 off 32 balls) rallied the middle order to lift the score up to 177/6 off their 20 overs, before the rain set in to end the contest.
