Australia vs England Women 1st WT20I Predictions
Australia lost their last WT20I match to South Africa in the Women’s T20 World Cup semi-final. The defeat was a rare upset for the world’s strongest women’s cricket side.
- Australia’s Beth Mooney has scored 28 & 50 in her last 3 innings.
- Australia’s Tahlia McGrath has scored 34 & 55 in her last 5 innings.
- England Women’s Danni Wyatt-Hodge scored 46 of her 53 runs against South Africa in boundaries.

Head-to-Head
Two of the last five WT20I matches between the sides have been rained off, both in 2022. Australia won one of those five matches, but England won the last two on the bounce. All three of those matches were in 2023.
Australia Women Form
After winning their four group matches in the Women’s T20 World Cup last November, Australia suffered a rare defeat. They lost to South Africa by eight wickets in the semi-final.
South Africa’s bowlers were superb in throttling the Australia top order batting. Beth Mooney top-scored with 44 off 42 balls as Australia were restricted to 134/5 off their 20 overs.
South Africa powered home to the win for the loss of just two wickets and 14 balls to spare. Annabel Sutherland (2/26, econ 6.50) was the only Australian bowler to taste success with the ball.
Australia Women Team News
Australia are in good form and are unlikely to make any changes to their team.
England Women Form
England won their last three WT20I matches in a row against South Africa to clinch the three-match series 3-0.
Charlie Dean (3/26, econ 6.50) and Lauren Bell (2/24, econ 6.00) were superb in knocking over the South African top order. South Africa were bowled out off the last ball of their 20 overs for just 124.
Danni Wyatt-Hodge’s 53* off 31 balls ensured England raced to a nine-wicket win off just 11.3 overs.
England Women Team News
England Women are in good form and are unlikely to make any changes to their team.
Verdict
I am backing Australia to win. I am also backing Beth Mooney to top score for Australia.
Danni Wyatt-Hodge is a good bet to top score for the England Women.
