England vs South Africa Women Predictions
England are on a good run of form and have an experienced and talented side. South Africa could well be the side to challenge Australia for the title, but my sense is that England will be too strong for the Proteas in this group match.
- England Women’s Danni Wyatt-Hodge has scored 35 & 41 in her last 2 innings.
- England Women’s Nat Sciver-Brunt has scored 34 & 31 in her last 5 innings.
- South Africa Women’s Laura Wolvaardt top-scored with 59* off 55 balls against the West Indies.
- South Africa Women’s Tazmin Brits scored 57* off 52 balls in the 10-wicket win over the West Indies.
Head-to-Head
South Africa beat England in their last WT20I, but England won the previous four matches on the bounce.
England Women Form
After winning three matches on the bounce and then losing to Ireland by five wickets, England bounced back to beat Bangladesh in their World Cup opener.
England battled against the Bangladesh bowling and only managed to post 118/7 off their 20 overs, with Danni Wyatt-Hodge’s 41 off 40 balls the top score.
The England bowlers were in fine form, though, and restricted Bangladesh to 97/7, with Linsey Smith’s return of 4-1-11-2 (econ 2.75) being the highlight of really good England bowling performance.
England Women Team News
England Women are in good form and are unlikely to make any changes to their team.
South Africa Women Form
South Africa beat the West Indies by 10 wickets in their World Cup opener, making it three wins in four.
Nonkululeko Mlaba (4/29) was the star of a superb South African bowling performance, knocking over four of the West Indies top seven as the one-time World Cup winners were restricted to 118/6 off their 20 overs.
Laura Wolvaardt (59* off 55 balls) and Tazmin Brits (57* off 52) batter magnificently to take the Proteas home for a 10-wicket win with 13 balls in the bank.
South Africa Women Team News
South Africa Women are in excellent form with bat and ball and if they keep their heads and don’t get complacent they could be strong challengers for this World Cup.
Verdict
I am backing England Women to win. I am also backing Danni Wyatt-Hodge to top score for England Women.
Laura Wolvaardt is a good bet to top score for the South Africa Women.
Laura Wolvaardt is a good bet to top score for the South Africa Women.
