David Bedingham fought a lone fight with the bat in Cape Town on Wednesday, scoring 45 runs against MI Cape Town. The 107 was never remotely enough and the hosts showed that the pitch was good by smashing their way to victory in 11 overs without losing a wicket.

The Sunrisers need to get some batsmen in form with the entire team struggling for runs. Tony de Zorzi looked out of touch in the last game, as did Tom Abell. Aiden Markram may need to come in at three with Tristan Stubbs also moving up.

Paarl Royals are currently top of the SA20 table with seven wins in nine games. They could be second by the time this match starts, depending on whether MI Cape Town win their fixture on Friday night.

While the Royals have been in good form, they did lose their last fixture to the Joburg Super Kings. Batting first, the Royals posted 150 in 20 overs as Dinesh Karthik top scored with 53 runs.

The Super Kings chased the score with more than two overs to spare to win by seven wickets.

The loss of Joe Root for the rest of the campaign could hurt the Royals as his runs has been exceptionally important to date. Other that him, there is very little international experience within the batting side, bar for Karthik.
