  • Sunrisers Eastern Cape’s Aiden Markram scored 62 runs in his last match.

Head to Head

These two have met on five occasions with the Sunrisers winning three and the Royals two. This season the Royals beat the Sunrisers in January before the Sunrisers turned the tables at the start of Feb with a 48-run win.

Paarl Royals Form

The Paarl Royals finished second on the SA20 table this season with seven wins and three losses in the group phase. In the first qualifier, the Royals went on to MI Cape Town which is why they have this opportunity to reach the final.

While the Royals have been good all season, they come into his match off the back of a three-match losing streak. Since the departure of Joe Root, the Royals have looked a shadow of the side they were in the first half of the campaign.

Against MI Cape Town in the qualifier, the Royals bowled first but failed to contain the Cape Town outfit, conceding 199 runs in 20 overs and over 60 in the last four overs.

The top order failed to really get going and although David Miller threatened to produce something special with his 45 off 26 balls, once the captain was gone so were the Royals chances as they faltered to 160 all out.

Paarl Royals Injuries & Team News

The Royals could opt to bring in some fresh faces or at least shift the side around a bit more. David Miller may need to bat a bit higher and there will be hope that Mitchell Owen can find his feet after failures in his first two games.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape Form

Sunrisers Eastern Cape finished third on the table, quite a feat after losing their opening three games of the SA20. The Sunrisers are going for their third successive final and should they win here, not many would bet against them achieving that feat.

In the eliminator against the Joburg Super Kings at Centurion, the Sunrisers batted first, scoring 184 runs. David Bedingham got them off to a flying start before Aiden Markram scored an unbeaten 62 off 40 balls.

While early wickets were tough to come by, once the Sunrisers broke the opening partnership, everything fell into place. They held the Super Kings to 152 in their 20 overs.

The Sunrisers could go into this fixture unchanged. It is their strongest side, although they need more runs from the top four.

Verdict

The Sunrisers Eastern Cape are backed to win and reach the SA20 final. Aiden Markram has value in the best batsman market while David Miller can be backed in the same market for the Royals.
