MI Cape Town SA20 2025 Squad Preview

MI Cape Town will be desperate to make an impact this season, after ending up with the wooden spoon in 2023 and 2024. Both seasons saw them lose seven of their 10 matches, winning just three.  

Ryan Rickelton enjoyed a masterful season, scoring 530 runs at an average of 58.88 runs, with a highest score of 98. MI Cape Town twice scored over 240 (winning both those matches), winning two of their opening four games, but they didn’t win again until their second last game of the season on the way to finishing last for the second year running. 

The loss of Ben Stokes to injury is a big blow for a squad that has the player power to challenge for the title. All-rounder Corbin Bosch is their wildcard pick who is high on confidence after his superb international debuts, and the players bought on auction include Dane Piedt, Reeza Hendricks and Colin Ingram.

MI Cape Town has a powerhouse bowling line-up that can call on talent such as Rashid Khan, Trent Boult, Kagiso Rabada, Nuwan Thushara, Dane Piedt and George Linde. Their batting is equally powerful, with Rassie van der Dussen, Dewald Brewis, Reeza Hendricks, Colin Ingram and Ryan Rickelton. It would be a huge surprise to see them finish bottom again… but the big question would be if they can finally make the playoffs.
