Joburg Kings 2025 SA20 Squad Preview

The Super Kings finished second on the table in 2023 but lost in the semi-final. In 2024 they qualified for the last playoff spot and won the Eliminator, only to lose in Qualifier 2 (an effective semi-final).  

Leus du Plooy has scored 626 runs for the Super Kings at 44.71 (strike-rate 149.76), while Gerald Coetzee has taken 17 wickets at an average of 13.52 after bowling with fire and purpose with the white ball. 

The Joburg Super Kings have done some great work in the draft, bringing in a white-ball battering ram in the shape of England’s Jonny Bairstow along with prolific South Africa-born New Zealand opener Devon Conway. They have strengthened their bowling with the acquisition of young Sri Lankan quick Matheesha Pathirana (T20I strike-rate of a wicket every 11.4 balls), while their rookie is Warriors all-rounder JP King.

They have the squad strength to challenge again for a place in the final, but they will need Faf du Plessis to be firing on all cylinders.
