The Durban Super Giants struggled in 2023 but 2024 they managed to reach the final where they suffered a heavy loss to the Sunrisers. They finished second on the table with seven wins and three defeats in 10 games.

The Super Giants will be confident coming into this season despite their defeat in the 2024 final. They have retained many of their stars from last season as well.

Home form will be crucial for all sides but given the often-unique surfaces Durban offers, this will be even more key to the Super Giants.

Matthew Breetzke and Heinrich Klaasen both finished in the top three run scorers last season while Quinton de Kock remains one of the best T20 batsmen in the world. Marcus Stoinis of Australia will join the squad a bit later, but the addition of Kane Williamson gives the Super Giants plenty of quality in the middle order.

On the bowling front, Chris Woakes, Junior Dala, Noor Ahmad, Keshav Maharaj and Wiaan Mulder offers plenty of international experience.

Pretoria Capitals Form

The Pretoria Capitals will be looking for a far better showing in 2025 after finishing second from bottom in 2024. They managed just three wins in their 10 league games and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

In the first season, the Capitals made the final where they lost to the Sunrisers and will be looking to at least replicate that this year.

The Capitals squad looks a bit thin in some areas, but they have plenty of quality to cover. Rilee Rossouw, Will Jacks, Kyle Verreynne and James Neesham can win games on their own. On the bowling front, Anrich Nortje, who is currently injured, brings plenty of quality as does Wayne Parnell and Migael Pretorius.

The Super Giants had a stellar season in 2024, and I fancy them getting the win over the Capitals to start 2025. Heinrich Klaasen is one to watch in the run scoring markets.
