South Africa vs New Zealand Preview
These are two very evenly matched sides for the semi-final. The bigger batting depth is with South Africa I feel, particularly if the surface offers the bowlers something.

Head to Head
New Zealand have won three of their last five ODIs against South Africa, including the last one just before the Champions Trophy started.
South Africa Form
South Africa came into the tournament in poor form having lost five ODIs in a row. It is true, however, that during that period they seldom had their strongest side on the field.
They began the Champions Trophy with a convincing win against Afghanistan before their game against Australia was rained out without a ball being bowled. Needing to win their final game to top the group, the Proteas comfortably saw off England.
South Africa bowled England out for 179 runs in Karachi, a total that was never going to challenge the Proteas batsmen. They reached the total inside 30 overs with Rassie van der Dussen scoring 72 runs and Heinrich Klaasen 64 off 56 balls.

Conditions is the only thing that may change the selectors mind on team selection. However, one spinner is the likely option while Temba Bavuma will probably return to the side to open ahead of Tristan Stubbs.
New Zealand Form
New Zealand showed good form heading into the tournament, beating Pakistan twice and South Africa in a warm-up tournament. They continued that form in the group stage, winning their opening two games to secure qualification.
In their last outing, the Black Caps suffered a defeat to India in Dubai. On a slow pitch, New Zealand managed to restrict India to 249 in 50 overs, a very chasable score.
However, the batsmen failed to dominate against a good Indian bowling side. Kane Williamson anchored the innings with a well-played 81 but he didn’t have enough support around him as the Black Caps were all out for 205 runs with five overs to spare.

Lahore is a very different pitch to Dubai which will please New Zealand. I suspect there may be a change or two in the bowling lineup.
Verdict
South Africa are backed to win this semi-final with Heinrich Klaasen and Kane Williamson to top score for their respective teams.
