- Ryan Rickelton and Joe Root are key players to watch.
- England may experiment with their lineup, being out of contention.

South Africa vs England Preview
South Africa will qualify with a win although if Australia beat Afghanistan today, they will qualify regardless. I am backing the Proteas to get over the line against an England team looking out of sorts and sturggling in the bowling department.

- England have lost their last 2 matches.
Head to Head
South Africa have won three of their last five ODIs against England, including the last game in the 2023 Cricket World Cup by 229 runs.
South Africa Form
South Africa won their opening game of the tournament against Afghanistan by 100+ runs. Their second game, against Australia, was rained out without a ball being bowled.
That puts South Africa on three points and victory over England will secure their play in the semi-final. However, should Australia beat Afghanistan today (game currently being played) then South Africa will qualify regardless of the result against England.
South Africa Injuries & Team News
I suspect South Africa will pick the same side that featured against Afghanistan, bar the for the inclusion of Heinrich Klaasen. That would mean captain, Temba Bavuma is likely to open.
England Form
England are already out of the Champions trophy after losing their first two games to Australia and Afghanistan.
In the first game, England scored over 300 runs but failed to defend it against Australia. In the second game, England let Afghanistan off the hook at 37-3 batting first and allowed them to score over 300 runs.
Joe Root’s 100+ runs was not enough as England fell short by eight runs in the end.
England Injuries & Team News
England could give the rest of their squad a run considering that this is a meaningless game for them.
Verdict
Proteas are backed to win with Ryan Rickelton to top score. For England, Joe Root is tipped to score runs.
