  • South Africa is missing several top players for this match.
  • Pakistan is expected to make squad changes, treating it as a warm-up for the ICC Champions Trophy.

Pakistan vs South Africa Preview

Pakistan and South Africa lost their last fixture against New Zealand. However, the hosts will be eager to bounce back while South Africa are missing key players. A home win is backed.

  • Pakistan have won their last 3 ODIs against South Africa.
  • Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman scored 84 runs in his last ODI.
  • South Africa have lost their last 4 ODI matches.
  • South Africa’s Matthew Breetzke scored 150 runs in his last match.

Head to Head

Pakistan have won their last three ODIs against the Proteas.

Pakistan Form

Pakistan lost their opening match of this Tri series against New Zealand in Lahore by 78 runs.

Bowling first on a flat deck, Pakistan struggled to contain the rampant New Zealand batsmen, conceding 330 runs in their 50 overs. In the chase, Fakhar Zaman stood firm for a brilliant 84 runs off 69 balls, but he had little support.

In the end, Pakistan were all out for 252 runs inside 48 overs.

This is acting as a warm-up game to the ICC Champions Trophy. Pakistan is likely to give the rest of their squad a run as defeat will mean this is their last game before the tournament opener.

South Africa Form

South Africa lost their Tri Series opening match against New Zealand by six wickets. Batting first, Matthew Breetzke batted superbly, scoring 150 off 148 balls.

Wiaan Mulder contributed 64 lower down the order in a decent total of 304 runs. However, the Black Caps were in-form with the bat once again, chasing the score down inside 49 overs.

South Africa are also expected to make wholesale changes to their side. Defeat for them would also mean this is their final game before the Champions Trophy gets underway next week. The Proteas are still without some of their top talent who only arrive over the weekend.

Verdict

South Africa are lacking quality with some top players not in Pakistan yet. I fancy Pakistan to win with Fakhar Zaman to score more runs.
