Australia come into this Champions Trophy as the reigning World champions in the ODI format after their 2023 success.

However, the Aussies have not been at their best of late and have a number of key players missing through injury. Much will defend on the likes of Steven Smith, Alex Carey and Travis Head to steer the younger generation.

Glenn Maxwell could play a key role as he is the one player who can turn a game on its head in a matter of overs.

England Form

England have dropped off in the ODI format since their 2019 Cricket World Cup win. They have not managed to retain the same kind of consistency despite having quite a few world class players.

Just before the Champions Trophy, England lost an ODI series 3-0 to India away from home. It would have been good prep despite the defeats as conditions are likely similar.

Phil Salt and Ben Duckett scored some runs in those losses, but they will need more from the rest of the batting lineup to compete in the Champions Trophy.
