England will be keen to get a win under the belt and keep their qualification hopes alive in the Champions Trophy. Afghanistan, however, will be no easy beats, particularly if the pitch takes some turn.

Head to Head
Lahore is generally a high-scoring ground, but Afghanistan will be hopeful that there is some spin on offer. However, going by how the pitch has played thus far, I am backing England to have too much quality, particularly among the batsmen.
Afghanistan Form
Afghanistan suffered a 107-run defeat in their opening Champions Cup match against South Africa in Karachi. After being asked to bowl first, Afghanistan did well to contain the batsmen early on but faltered towards the end of the innings.
In the end, South Africa scored 315 runs, about 30 more than Afghanistan would have hoped for. The chase was always going to be tough against a good bowling lineup.
Rahmat Shah batted magnificently for his 90 runs, but no other batsmen managed to exceed the 20-run mark. IN the end, Afghanistan were all out for 208 runs.
Afghanistan Injuries & Team News
Conditions may force a change but if the wicket takes some turn, Afghanistan will fancy their chances.
England Form
Halfway through their Champions Cup opener against Australia, England would have fancied their chances of winning. They were very good with the bat, or at least Ben Duckett was.
England scored 351 runs in 50 overs as Duckett smashed his way to 165 off 143 balls. He was well supported by Joe Root who scored 68 runs, however, no other batsmen really got going.
Mark Wood and Jofra Archer took two early wickets but once the third wicket fell, Josh Inglis took control and England’s bowling lineup fell short of the mark. Australia ended up cruising to a five-wicket success within the 48th over.
England Injuries & Team News
England will be worried about their bowling unit in particular. Mark Wood was not at his best, Jofra Archer has been injured for the majority of the last 24 months, Brydon Carse is new to the international scene and Joe Root and Liam Livingstone are part-timers – at best. Adid Rashid is still a world class operator, but he will need support.
Verdict
England should be too strong if the wicket plays well so I am backing Ben Duckett and Rahmat Shah to score runs for their respective teams.
