Proteas paceman Lungi Ngidi is the latest world-class star to sign for the Major League Cricket T20 league in the United States, which runs from July 13-30, 2023. The South African has signed for the San Francisco Unicorns for the inaugural MLC season.

Ngidi joins a Unicorns side stacked with international talent in the form of the Aussie pair Aaron Finch and Marcus Stoinis, as well as New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson and England seamer Liam Plunkett.

Although troubled by injuries in recent years, Ngidi has been a popular and successful performer for South Africa over the past seven years. He was also one of the outstanding stars of the 2018 IPL tournament.

South African international and domestic players have been snapped up for each of the six MLC franchises, with the big-name signings including Quinton de Kock and Wayne Parnell for the Seattle Orcas, while Marco Jansen and Anrich Nortje have both committed their talents to the Washington Freedom.

Already drafted are 16 players who have been capped by the USA National Team, while other overseas players with international experience include Wanindu Hasaranga, Glenn Phillips and Adam Milne (Washington Freedom), as well as Dasun Shanaka and Sikandar Raza (Seattle Orcas),

The tournament will include 19 matches, with the final on 30 July. All matches will be played at the new Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas.
