MI Emirates topped the table after the round robin stage with six wins and four defeats in 10 matches. They went on to beat the Gulf Giants by seven wickets in the first qualifier to reach the final.

Batting first in that qualifier, the Emirates scored 163 runs with no one really shooting the lights out with the bat. Nicholas Pooran top scored with 36 runs upon his return from international duty while there were three players who reached 20 and another 30.

The bowlers, however, easily defended the score, bowling the Giants out for 118 runs. Vijayakanth Viyaskanth was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets.

The Dubai Capitals were inconsistent throughout the round robin stage, winning five and losing five of their 10 matches. They finished fourth, just making it into the playoffs.

However, once there, the Capitals beat the Knight Riders by 85 runs before seeing off the Gulf Giants by nine wickets in the second qualifier.

A solid bowling display saw the Capitals restrict the Giants to 138 runs in 20 overs. The chase was simple as Leus de Plooy smashed 63 runs off 40 balls to steer the Capitals home inside 16 overs.
