The Melbourne Stars have made a shocking start to the BBL with four defeats in four matches. They are currently at the bottom of the table.

In their last game, it looked like the Stars may have found some answers after batting first against the Sydney Sixers and scoring 194 runs. Ben Duckett got them off to a flying start, smashing 68 off 29 balls. Glenn Maxwell threatened to get going with 32 before he was dismissed.

Still, while they could have scored 210+, 194 was a pretty good total. Unfortunately, the bowlers didn’t quite get the job done as the Sixers won with 11 balls to spare and by eight wickets.

The Stars batsmen finally came good in the last outing, but their bowling department looked weak. Other than Peter Siddle, all the bowlers went for heavy runs.

The Sydney Thunder have only played two games this season, winning one and losing their last match in the Sydney derby against the Sixers.

In that defeat, the Thunder batted first, scoring 163 runs in 20 overs. Cameron Bancroft top scored with 70 while Oliver Davies added a well-played 47. The score was below par as the latter batsmen failed to really make it count.

The bowlers fought hard though and while only four wickets were taken, the Thunder kept the run rate in check. The Sixers ended up taking the win off the final ball of the match.

The Thunder are likely to make minimal changes to their side. However, they will have to replace youngster, Sam Konstas who has joined the Australian national side.
