Season preview

The Unicorns only won two matches last season and were pipped to the playoff places by eventual champions MI New York on net run rate. They have brought in some exciting talent that should combine into a team strong enough to challenge for the playoffs.

New players

Their biggest coup is new skipper and bowling all-rounder Pat Cummins, who will lead the side and the attack with the winning mentality needed for success. Cummins is also handy with the bat when required. Fellow Aussie Jake Fraser-McGurk has become a white-ball sensation and enjoyed an excellent IPL season with Delhi Capitals, while Sherfane Rutherford (West Indies) had an excellent World Cup.

Other signings include Matthew Short (Australia), Matt Henry (New Zealand), Josh Inglis (Australia) and Abrar Ahmed (Pakistan).

Key players

Finn Allen, Haris Rauf, Jake Fraser McGurk, Josh Inglis, Liam Plunkett, Matt Henry, Pat Cummins and Sherfane Rutherford.
