Islamabad United Form
Islamabad made it two wins from two when they beat Peshawar Zalmi by 102 runs in their second match of the series.
Sahibzada Farhan scored a brutal 106 off 52 balls (backed by Colin Munro’s 40 off 27 balls) to setup a daunting target of 244 for Zalmi to chase.
With only Mohammad Haris (87) scoring above 13, Zalmi were rolled out for 141 in the 19th over. Imad Wasim (3/26, econ 6.50) was the pick of the Islamabad bowlers, knocking over three of Zalmi’s top five.
Islamabad United Team News
Islamabad United are in title–winning form and will be hard to beat on their day.
Multan Sultans Form
After the disappointment of losing last season’s final to Islamabad, the Sultans suffered a cruel, last-over defeat at the hands of the Karachi Kings.
The Sultans powered their way to 234/3 off their 20 overs against the Karachi Kings. Mohammad Rizwan scored 105 off 63 balls, while Michael Bracewell (44* off 17) added three sixes in the final overs to give the Sultans’ total a big boost.
Akif Javed (3/41) struck twice early on to reduce the Kings to 52/3. He picked up a crucial third wicket in the second last over, but it was just not enough to save his side from a four-wicket defeat with four balls remaining.
Multan Sultans Team News
It’s too early in the season to make big changes, but the Sultans will look for their bowlers to try keep the Islamabad batters quiet. Their batters are on form, so they need their bowlers to bring their A-game if they hope to outmuscle an in-form Islamabad.
Verdict
I am backing Islamabad United to win. I am also backing Sahibzada Farhan to top score for Islamabad United.
Mohammad Rizwan is a good bet to top score for the Multan Sultans.
Mohammad Rizwan is a good bet to top score for the Multan Sultans.
