Pakistan vs South Africa Preview
Pakistan have certainly looked the better ODI side over the last few years but have struggled during this World Cup. South Africa on the other hand have been in sublime form, especially with the bat. It is difficult to look past the Proteas winning this one with the form of their batsmen.

- Pakistan have lost their last 3 matches.
- Pakistan’s Babar Azam scored 74 runs in his last match.
- South Africa have won 4 of their last 5 matches.
- South Africa’s Quinton de Kock has scored 100+ runs in 3 of his last 5 matches.
Head to Head
Pakistan have won three of their last five ODIs against South Africa. They last met in 2021, a series Pakistan won 2-1.
Pakistan Form
Pakistan have four points from their five matches thus far which places them in fifth place on the table. It has been a poor tournament by their standards.
After opening the Cricket World Cup with two victories, Pakistan have gone on to lose their last three games. The biggest surprise came in their last outing as Afghanistan beat them by eight wickets.
Batting first Pakistan amassed 282 runs in 50 overs, a score they would have felt is enough. Abdullah Shafique scored 58 while Babar Azam top scored with 74 runs.
However, Afghanistan chased brilliantly, only losing two wickets along the way on a flat deck.
Pakistan Injuries & Team News
After three defeats Pakistan will be desperate to get back to winning ways. We may see a change or two as they look to find some balance within their side.
South Africa Form
South Africa are second on the table coming into this match with four wins and a defeat to their name. Quite frankly, they have been absolutely superb this tournament except for that shock defeat to the Netherlands.
Quite interestingly, the Proteas have dominated all four games where they batted first, the one where they chased, they came unstuck against Netherlands.
On the batting front, South Africa have no match in this tournament. They have scored three of the top five highest scores in the World Cup. In their last outing against Bangladesh, the Proteas scored 382 runs.
Quinton de Kock led the charge with a superb 174 runs off just 140 balls. Aiden Markram managed 60 runs while Heinrich Klaasen continued his unbelievable form, smashing 90 of 49 balls.
Bangladesh were all out for 233 runs with Gerald Coetzee taking three wickets.
South Africa Injuries & Team News
Much will depend on the pitch when it comes to selection, but we could see the return of Lungi Ngidi to the side.
Verdict
I am backing Quinton de Kock to score 50+ runs again in a South African win. Babar Azam is tipped to be Pakistan's top scorer.
