While England are just about out of the tournament, this should still be a spectacular game. They will give it a real go to upset the Aussie hopes of a semi-final so expect a game full of drama. This is arguably the game Australia needs least right now despite England being bottom of the pile.

Australia have won their last four ODIs against England. The last three of those games took place in November 2022 straight after England won the T20 Cricket World Cup.

England Form

England have been terribly disappointing during this World Cup. They came into the tournament as favourites alongside India but have put up one of the worst title defenses in the history of the game.

After six games, England have managed just one win which leaves them bottom of the table. With just three games to go, they are all but out of the tournament.

Since 2016 England have been superb in ODI cricket but their team is aging. Their strength has certainly been on the batting front, a part of the game they revolutionised for the rest of the world. But it has failed them in 2023.

Last time out England suffered a 100-run defeat to India. A good bowling display saw them restrict India to 229 runs in 50 overs. The batsmen failed though as they were all out for 129.

But this is where it could get fun. England may be out of the tournament, but they’d love nothing more than to derail Australia’s campaign, especially after the bad blood during the Ashes this year.

England may as well play around with their squad a bit. They have nothing more to lose.

Australia may have had a slow start to the tournament, losing their opening two games, but they have won their last four matches. They are currently in third place on the table, but it is very tight between them and those below.

The Aussies won their last match by five runs against New Zealand. In a high-scoring thriller, Australia posted a total of 388 runs. David Warner continued his good form with 81 runs, but Travis Head stole the show with 109 off 67 balls.

New Zealand were magnificent in the chase but fell just five runs short in the end. Worrying for Australia will be how their bowlers struggled under pressure.
